     Unlike regular paint, milk paint does not provide a perfectly uniform color.  There are subtle shading differences that give the appearance of lead and oil-based paint of old.

Milk paint does not chip or peel like regular pains. As a piece of furniture finished with milk paint ages, the worn paint develops a polished look and takes on different levels of sheen.  In the end, as wear becomes more pronounced, light on the finish creates a subtle yet lively effect that actually makes the finish better with age.
